Using What3Words to Geolocate your permits

This article outlines how to use What 3 Words for your permits

For certain permit types, you may be required to identify on a map where the work for your permit is taking place.

This can be done by using our What3Words integrated geolocation feature. You can either drop a pin on a map to specify the location of work or type in a What3Words location.

If you require map settings to be set u for your project, please contact help@siteassist.co

Identifying the location of work using What3Words

To identify the area of work using What3Words, you must:

1. Tap the "+" button to begin the permit creation process

2. Tap "Create New Permit"

3a. Select your Project

3b. Select the type of permit that you wish to raise

Note: this setting is project and permit type dependent, so if the box shown in step 3c does not appear, then this setting has not been enabled for your project and permit type.

3c. Once the permit type is selected, a new box called "Point of Works" will show. Tap this box.

4a. Once the map opens, a box grid should show. Each of the boxes shown is a What3Word location, and you can either:

  • Input the What3Words in the top bar, which will show you the grid box for that location on the map; or

  • Tap a box to identify where your work is taking place (if the box grid does not show, you will need to zoom in closer until it appears)

4b. Once complete, tap "confirm"

5. You can then see the What3Words location for the work for this permit

You can then continue the process of raising your permit.
